Location, Lifestyle & Numbers
Whether it’s a small, medium or large enterprise, the Cranbrook-Kimberley Development Zone is poised for your business to succeed. Our region is home to a well-educated workforce, a thriving network of experienced support businesses, an international airport, supportive local governments and tons of inexpensive property.
So the real question is, why wouldn’t you want to do business here? But wait, there’s so much more…
Location
The Cranbrook-Kimberley Development Zone has the location that makes business easier. As the economic hub for southeastern B.C., the Zone is home to regional health and government services, transportation, logistics and warehousing. We serve an immediate market of 100,000, in addition to 4.5 million provincial neighbours who come here to shop, recreate and do business.
Cranbrook and Kimberley are just 25 minutes from each other and halfway between them is the Canadian Rockies International Airport, with multiple daily flights to Calgary, Vancouver and Kelowna.
- We are only an hour from Canada’s largest trading partner and just a few hours from Canada’s third largest municipality.
Lifestyle
Our lifestyle is unparalleled. With the Rocky Mountains, rivers and lakes just minutes from our doorstep, we have access to some of B.C.’s best skiing, golfing, biking and fishing opportunities. Plus, we have a burgeoning arts scene and an emerging health and wellness industry.
In less than an hour, you can also be exploring huge networks of backcountry forestry roads and nearby parks, which provide access to high alpine peaks.
The region’s temperate climate is favourable to life here, with an average summer temperature of 25C, and average winter high temperatures of only a few degrees below zero. With over 300 days of annual sunshine, our region is also the sunniest in B.C.
It’s the perfect place to raise a family
Our communities are close-knit and connected by 30 kilometres of pristine paved pathway. We have theatres for visual and performing arts, aquatic centres, municipal recreation facilities and several conferencing facilities.
You see, people don’t end up here by chance, they choose to be here. They want to work hard, then play. They say no to long commutes and seek affordability for their businesses and families. They want their kids to have the ultimate childhood, growing up in a secure community and having access to higher education, business and outdoor recreation. They want more, without a sacrifice.
